This year’s Google’s April Fool’s Day went horribly wrong with Google users. Google included a Mic Drop Button yesterday to their email service. After an immediate backlash, the feature was taken down early morning.
The prank involves a new Gmail Mic Drop button, which is placed next to the normal send button, ends an email thread forever by muting all future replies to the sender, and firing off a gif of a minion “mic dropping” at the same time.
Several users were desperately trying ways to undo or reverse a Mic Drop email and many of them even made way to Gmail product forums to vent out frustration. According to the report, potential interviews were missed out on, accusations of unprofessional behavior were made and in at least a couple of instances, jobs were lost!
